Today's Trench Candle Assembly 🕯️

The candles they produce use the same tins as we do, but their wicks are made from corrugated cardboard, which they soak in wax before pouring. Because the wick is smaller, the candles burn more slowly and last longer. They melt the wax in a large pot on a gas stove in the kitchen and pour it through a strainer using a spout – this is a home-based operation producing hundreds of candles each month!

It’s amazing that more of us have stuck with this seasonal effort, whose importance skyrockets with the onset of winter. Still, we’re constantly improving, sharing ideas and resources, and continuing to help. Tomáš and his team deserve great respect!

He came to see how we work – and jumped right in.
This kind of “candle collaboration” gives us hope. Every handmade candle means warmth, light, and hope for the soldiers spending their winter in the trenches.

Together to victory!

We will endure because we must, because we want a better world for our children.
