The First Trench Candles from Our 2023 Wax Collection in the Czech Republic Are Made and Ready to Go
When we launched the wax collection with the update titled Asking for Help Is Not a Shame! and I sent out requests for wax contributions for trench candles, I hoped for more offers of support to make achieving our goal easier. That’s why I was especially pleased to receive a message from Mr. Mgr. Jaroslav Boušek, who informed us that the parish in Kutná Hora could contribute about two crates of candle wax.
We removed the wicks from the candles, cleaned them of colorants and additives, and prepared everything for transport.
Just 80 hours after picking up the material in Kutná Hora, it arrived at the school in Ukraine.
Thanks to this help and their own effort, the children managed to complete approximately 200 trench candles out of the 500 we have prepared and waiting for wax – these will be delivered to soldiers at the front line at the end of the week.
Everything aligned perfectly in terms of timing. Without this help from the parish in Kutná Hora, we would have had to postpone the delivery of warmth to the soldiers by another month. A huge thank you to Kutná Hora!
We also thank the children from the elementary school in the village of Osij in Zakarpattia, who continue to support their country and our shared human values – in this case, by providing soldiers with basic survival necessities.
When children get involved in volunteering, it evokes at least two emotions: a sense of failure – because we were unable to shield them from the problem and protect them – but also pride, because they want to help and are not standing on the sidelines like many adults. They deserve our respect, and because of them, we cannot let up now.
Please join us. Wax can, of course, be bought – but these 50 kg of donated wax saved about CZK 2,500 even compared to the best prices we get from suppliers sympathetic to helping Ukraine. That’s enough to buy 150 heating pads. The help is therefore many times more effective (and we will deliver the pads together with the candles at the end of the week).
It’s always better when we can make use of what is generously available. Many thanks in advance to everyone who helps us.
Together to victory!
We will endure because we must, because we want a better world for our children.
СЛАВА УКРАЇНІ! ГЕРОЯМ СЛАВА!
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
