We Delivered Another Vehicle to the Frontline

The Reality of Support in 2024

When planning aid from the Czech Republic—even with the experience of traveling to eastern Ukraine—we are still far from the reality on the ground. Some things require a broader perspective to truly understand.

Support from donors has decreased compared to the first year of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Securing funds for aid is becoming more difficult, and despite our continuous effort to find new ways to help, the scale of our support is shrinking.

That’s why I want to share this openly.

What It Takes to Get a Vehicle to Ukraine

In 2022 and 2023, we delivered nearly 20 vehicles to units at the front.
On average, securing a pickup or 4x4 van for Ukraine took a little over a month.

Two types of vehicles are particularly critical:

  1. Evacuation ambulances
    – Usually 4x4 vans that can transport wounded soldiers from the battlefield to safety
    – These vehicles allow for basic life-saving equipment on board
    – Although pickups can also be used for evacuation, they are more multi-purpose

One example: we discussed a Volkswagen Transporter T4 ambulance with Vasyl, but the vehicle was already paid for by Ukrainian donors before we could even begin fundraising in the Czech Republic. They handled everything themselves—quickly and effectively.

A Vehicle for the Fallen

The second case is more somber.

The vehicle we just delivered in January was refrigerated. It serves to transport the bodies of fallen soldiers—those who gave their lives for their country and for our future.

It’s not easy to work with this kind of purpose.
But caring for the fallen is a deeply important act of dignity and moral clarity.
In the face of war’s horror, this gesture becomes a powerful symbol of human values and heroism on the side of Ukraine.

It was an honor for us to contribute—even just a little—to this effort.

What Else We Delivered

Alongside the vehicle, we also sent:

  • Trench candles made in our workshop in Prague –
Thanks to everyone who donates wax and helps with production

  • Medical supplies, including tourniquets, hemostatic dressings, and more, provided by my sister Michaela Riedlová

  • Warm clothing, collected by donors who often bring other needed items along with wax donations –
All based on our public list of needed supplies

Thank you, everyone.
